LAST WEEK'S SCORES BELOW
LEAGUE "PRESPECTIVE"
The most exciting matchup this weekend has the Marshall Seventh and Eighth Graders visiting East Central in Shiloh. Each team has lost big to Casey-Westfield this year. East Central squeaked out victory against Cumberland, whereas Marshall lost to Cumberland by two scores in a well contested match. On paper, Marshall's fifth and sixth grade should easily handle East Central's squad, and both programs are large enough to field a halftime game.
By this year's records, home team Cumberland should easily handle Tri-County, which struggles with a small roster, and home teamer Paris should prevail against Palestine-Hutsonville. Palestine-Hutsonville also struggles with relatively small rosters, and the seventh and eighth graders have had their share of injuries. Blake Newlin, their starting quarterback, was knocked out in the first game with a knee injury for the season, but it appears he was relatively blessed with fluid on the knee rather than a more serious event. Brandon Redman also broke his arm against Tri-County, a starting cornerback, offensive end and defensive end.
It appears that Casey-Westfield should come in and blow out Martinsville, another program dealing with extremely low roster numbers. This game is interesting, and might be competitive, because it is a traditional fierce Clark County rivalry. The communities compete for players, students, business, residency and - well, everything.
CASEY-WESTFIELD WINS BIG GAMES AGAINST PARIS
CASEY-WESTFIELD PERSPECTIVE
A previously unscored upon and perfect record Paris Tigers ran into a talented Casey-Westfield Braves team on Sunday @ Paris field. The Braves Defense made a strong stand as Paris began the game on Offense and marched to the Casey-Westfield 20 yd line before losing the ball on a turnover. The powerful Braves offense took the field and scored on first play. Casey-Westfield missed the conversion but led 6-0. Paris again put on a strong offensive performance but was held by the Braves Defense. The Braves scored one more time in the first half and took a 14-0 lead into halftime. The second half was much the same as Casey-Westfield put two more TD's on the board and a two point conversion for the final game score of 28-0.
The 7th-8th grade game was a bit different as the Tigers scored first for an 8-0 lead. Casey-Westfield marched back on their possession and tied the game. The Braves' defense went to work and held Paris on the next series. Casey was marching for another TD before they had a turnover inside the 15. That seemed to wake up the Braves as they put the pressure on the Tigers defensively and scored another 32 points offensively for the final score of 40-8. Both Casey-Westfield teams are 4-0.
A PARIS PERSPECTIVE
Wow. What a difference a week makes. Last week, Paris Tigers could do no wrong. This week, we were an example of what happens when you make mistakes and turn the ball over. Especially...when you do it against a team like Casey-Westfield. You get beat....28-0. Paris started off driving the ball down the field only to fumble it deep in Casey territory. And Casey did what you would expect, they capitalized on the turn over to make the score 6 to 0. Paris continued to move the ball but was just not capable of putting the ball in the end zone. The game was closer than the score shows...but, in the end, Casey was victorious. It was a great game and congratulations to the kids and coaches in Casey. Both teams are hoping to meet again later this year!
The half time game was a fun one to watch. Casey scored a couple of times to gain the advantage. Paris kids fought hard and gave it their all. But, like the 6th grade, Paris could not find the end zone. Paris did lose a player during the game to a broken arm. Cam Anderson will be fine... he just has some healing to do.
EAST CENTRAL SWAPS WINS WITH TRI-COUNTY

The Tri-County 5th and 6th Grade team came alive lastnight under the lights getting their first win of the season. Everyone enjoyed watching the East Central Flag Football teams play.
