Wabash Valley Youth Football Times

Week 6
This Saturday evening, Tri-County was a disappointing host to Palestine-Hutsonville, winning both games over the visiting Pioneers. The hosting Titans won big in the fifth and sixth grade game. The seventh and eighth grade game was exciting football. Each team scored in its first possession, with a resulting 8 to 6 score, Tri-County leading through most of the first half. Palestine-Hutsonville came out strong in the second half, going ahead 18-8. The Titans fought and scratched to a 22 to 18 lead in the fourth quarter. Palestine-Hutsonville drove the ball to within 20 yards of a score, and fumbled the snap with 4 minutes left in the game. The Titans scored on a long run within a few plays. The Pioneers wanted the game badly, and marched down the field again, only to throw an interception with little time left on the clock. When asked what he liked and disliked about his team's performance, Coach Skinner of Tri-County said, "I liked everything. It was Iron Man football all the way." Coach Miller, the Tri-County defensive coordinator explained, "We just want to teach them to run, throw, block and tackle, and give them a framework to do it in." These two teams were both very impressive tonight, and played with excitement and intensity. Tri-County, with just a 14 man roster, defeated the very quick and talented Pioneers, who have many more players.
